Early American Pressed Glass

As glass collectors we like to shop on Ebay, but finding the items we are looking for takes to long.  Sellers have gotten clever about "keyword spamming" and fill their titles with words designed to attract viewers even though the listing is not relevant.  I don't understand why a seller would think that tricking me into looking at his irrelevant listing would be a good thing, but it happens.,

We have gradually developed search strings that eliminate the dreck and allow us to only see listings of interest.  It's not a perfect system, but it does cut down on the number of listings we have to read through to find items in which were are genuinely interested.   This site is our effort to share these techniques.

EAPG is the "Hub" for a series of specialty collector websites.  Each of these "Spoke" sites has pages which return Ebay listings for VERY specific searches.  We have tried to make the search results return only items in which the collector would be interested.  Listed below are these sub sites.  Clicking the link on the one(s) that fit your interests will take you there to begin your searching.

Art Glass is such a broad search term as to be almost useless for finding specific items on Ebay.

Bischoff Glass was one of many West Virginia Mouth Blown Glass Companies that has now gone out of business.  Their products are actively traded on Ebay.

Blenko Glass was a famous West Virginia glass maker that is very collectible.

Blown Glass is a "catch all" term that may bring up many "Sleepers".  Glass blowers seldom marked their products so there are many items for sale where the item is obviously hand blown, but the maker is unknown.  If you are educated about handblown glass there is a good chance of spotting an item for sale cheap from a clueless seller.

Carnival Glass is very popular and very reproduced.  Buyer beware.

Cased Glass was made by many of the handblown glass companies in a variety of colors and styles.

Cranberry Glass is popular because of the color and the gold.

Custard Glass is also called Uranium Glass and was a popular tourist item in the 1930's.  The markings on the glass may easily have more value than the glass itself.

Vaseline Glass is another glass type produced by many manufacturers.

We are also working on the idea of an online appraisal service based on the knowledge gained from these collectible sites.  The fact is that if you want to know the real market value of something, look it up on Ebay.  That is where all the real data about actual cash values will be.  Printed price guides are out of date before they are printed.

Ebay has good tools for searching completed auctions and that makes the basis for an appraisal service.  The problem of course is that people who need appraisals probably don't know enough about their item(s) and/or how to search the completed auctions.  Thus the idea of an online service.

Our thought is that we know enough from research on building the sites we could use pictures and descriptions to make a reasonable appraisal.
